nacsound: Patented Innovation in Sound
Sound as Space. Space as Experience.
NACSOUND is a brand founded on decades of research by inventor and sound designer Francesco Pellisari, whose patented technologies explore sound diffusion, perception, and the deep integration between acoustics and space. Created to achieve a more natural and immersive listening experience, NACSOUND is based on omnidirectional principles and a design philosophy where art, design, and acoustics operate as one. Innovation, for NACSOUND, means transforming the environment itself into an active element of sound.
Origins of a Listening Sensitivity
Francesco Pellisari’s research in acoustics began in the early 1980s. A pivotal encounter with master violinist Mario Pincherle revealed his exceptional sensitivity to harmonics. This awareness was further refined through exposure to high-level violins, Spanish guitars, ancient music, and Arabic instruments during extensive travels. These formative experiences shaped a listening approach focused on nuance, balance, and the natural behavior of sound.
From Electronics to Acoustic Theory
Alongside music, Pellisari cultivated a strong interest in electronics. In 1984, he developed his first amplifier, attracting attention from leading audio journalists and prominent figures in the international hi-fi community. This recognition marked the beginning of a deeper exploration into the physics of sound, leading to original theories such as the omnidirectional non-coherent wave and the geometry of sound.
Patented Technologies and Sound Sculptures
These studies resulted in multiple patents, including the Omni and Atun sound sculptures, based on Bessel quadratic geometry—specifically designed to allow low frequencies to interact with space in a more natural and controlled way. Further developments include omnidirectional coaxial loudspeakers with a central waveguide, innovative bass reflex systems with specialized internal geometry, and circular-mass crossover designs that redefine signal distribution.
Design, Mobility, and the Freewheeler
In the 1990s, a collaboration with designer Ron Arad led to one of the most visionary projects: Freewheeler. Conceived as a movable, rolling object, it redefined the loudspeaker from a static piece of furniture into a dynamic, spatial presence. Freewheeler was a single-object, wireless stereo system—decades ahead of its time—featuring an internal battery and custom-built amplification.
Beyond Sound
Francesco Pellisari’s inventive work extends beyond audio, including patents exploring the interaction between sound and light, wellness applications, and advanced technological systems. This multidisciplinary approach reflects the core identity of NACSOUND.
The NACSOUND Vision
NACSOUND is not about sound as an isolated output, but about sound as an experience shaped by space, form, and perception. It is a holistic vision in which technology becomes invisible, and listening becomes immersive, natural, and deeply connected to its environment.
